Proverbs 16:18
“Pride goes before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.”
Reflection
It is very common to see in our life that some people are of good caliber, intelligent and good-minded but also arrogant and self-righteous. Whatever they do, they always think they do well and right, unwilling to accept others’ suggestions, so they always encounter setbacks and failures.
On the contrary, some people don’t look so smart outwardly, nor do they have anything extraordinary, but they can consult others modestly, and don’t hold fast to their own opinion, therefore, they achieve good effect in things. Thus it can be seen that man’s success or failure doesn’t lie in the outward caliber but is all determined by whether he has a modest heart.
